The shared cruise — the right default

The limitation is the schedule. Shared boats leave when they leave, and the standard sailings from most ports converge on the bay around the middle of the day — the worst light and the most traffic.
Glass-bottom — the cheapest way there

Speedboat — more coast, less time
Speedboats cover ground, which matters most from the ports furthest from the wreck. From St. Nikolaos at $35 keeps the round trip under three hours from a port an hour’s sail away. A speedboat to the wreck, caves and White Beach runs $58.
The trade is comfort. A speedboat on a choppy afternoon return is a different experience from a 60-seater, and if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness the larger hull is worth the slower crossing. Most speedboats also have no shade and no toilet.
Land and sea — if you have no car
Covered in full on its own page, and the format holding the island’s two highest review counts. Minibus pickup, the clifftop viewpoint, then a boat leg. The value option is $37 for seven to nine hours; the most-reviewed is $47 across 5,720 ratings.
Book it if you have no transport, or if you want the overhead view as well as the water-level one. Don’t book it if a long minibus day sounds like a poor use of a holiday.
Private charter — buying the hour
The most misunderstood option, because the price looks absurd next to a $35 seat. It isn’t per person.

And what you buy is not luxury — it is the hour. You choose when to leave, which means reaching the bay before the scheduled fleet, in the light that makes the photographs work. On a coast where every shared boat arrives at roughly the same time, that is the one thing money genuinely buys.

Self-drive hire exists too — a self-drive boat from Tsilivi at $321. Check the licence-free horsepower limit with the operator first: Greek rules generally allow up to 30 hp with a roughly three-nautical-mile coastal limit, but firms on Zakynthos quote different figures and we could not locate the primary regulation.
